I have been training Std. Schnauzers since 1987, which was the year I brought home my first female of pepper-and-salt Std. Schnauzer – Briggi Dobrý výběr. At that time, I was a student at the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno. There were dog kennels in the university complex as well as an established cynological organisation.  I spent my free time on Briggi and her training and, in the years 1988 – 1990, we have managed to pass the ZM (Czech Republic Basic Skills Test), ZVV1 (Czech Republic General Purpose Training Test Level 1) and ZVV2 (Czech Republic General Purpose Training Test Level 2). After my graduation from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences, fate lead me to Pardubice and here I have remained to this day. I became a member of ZKO Nemošice (a cynological organisation for the area) and the SZBK ČR (Czech Republic SAR Cynologists Brigades Association) and started to pursue an area I hadn't previously known much about, that area being canine search and rescue training. In the years 1995 – 1998 Briggi and I passed tests according to the national as well as international SAR testing standards, specifically Rescue Dog Suitability tests (ZZZ, RH-E), Rescue Dog Rubble Search (ZZP1, ZZP2, ZZP3, RH-T A), Area Search (RH-FL A and ZTV) and Avalanche Search (ZLP 1, ZLP 2) tests and Rescue Dog Water Test (RH-W A).

It was with the following Std. Schnauzer female Assandra “Sandra” Pepper Ignis that I discovered the beauty of tracking and the interest hasn't left me since. Sandra had a great aptitude for tracking, she could easily track trails that were 3 hours old, over 1 km long, had sharp angles etc.. Unfortunately, due to family reasons, I wasn't able to train so intensively with her, therefore we have only managed to pass the BH, ZZZ and RH-E tests and a special tracking test ZPS 1 (in the years 1999 – 2000).

With my current Std. Schnauzer female Elsa Saltus ze Záhrabské I train tracking as well as SAR – rubble search. To this time (5/2018) we have succeeded in passing the entrance test according to the national SAR guidelines (ZZZ) and the entrance test according to IPO (BH) as well as the tracking trial levels IPO 1 and IPO 2, i.e. the tests FPr 1 and FPr 2.

There is still a lot of work ahead of us so I shall see how my Elsa fares in the future. :-)
